I've been doing this recently just noodling to find thirds, sixths and trying to navigate the fretboard. This is a masterful logical step, and a practical lesson. I talked with my piano teacher about my progress. He is happy that I am such a Geek since I've learned lots of music theory, but I've always said I don't have the ear to make music like a musician. Hhhmmm, yeah what I noticed about this exercise, is if I concentrate really hard and focus, I seem to forget how fingers work? Like I'm looking at my ring finger and I just don't understand how I instruct it to move. But if I take my hand off the guitar...I can move the finger independently...

I've done this for 30 days and it made me switch my insurance to Geico

Soooo BEAUTIFUL... You just do not hear guitar players using this 6th-interval sound enough. These intervals are so strong, it is a sound unlike many others in music. Now I know how to make this happen and it's easy off of this chord too. AMAZING!!! 💙💙💙💙💙

awesome lesson, I've been playing guitar for 15 years but I've never been very good at soloing. I've been learning my scales and argeppios and this has been super helpful in filling in a part of theory I never really understood. I'm starting to connect the dots and this was a big help. thanks !

UA-cam is so strange. There are videos with titles like, "Build this Diddley Bo in 10 minutes", and it's a less than 5 minute video. Then there are videos like this one, "BEFORE You Play Anything on Guitar - Do THIS for 5 SECONDS!" for the title, and it is 12 and 1/2 minutes long.

As a primary care physician, I was amazed at the number of people that didn't breathe. I even had a piano professor at the Conservatory who stated that all the horn and woodwind players and singers had to take breathing exercises, and no one talked about it in the piano department. As far as exercises go, I have a 30 second regimen for stabilizing and strengthening the low back. But they need to be performed every day. It's only 30 seconds. I have a video "Oh My Aching Bach". There are also techniques for the shoulders and hands, quite important for piano players. Oh, wait a minute. I guess guitar players might also benefit.

My ol lady said my fingering is already perfect.

Quck question: when you are playing all three notes of the triad together, are you using hybrid picking, with the pick (between the thumb and index finger) picking down, and the middle and ring finger picking up?
